APISQUEEN U10 Underwater Thruster: 900W Power, Battery and ESC Selection Guide

Posted by Fengyukun on

For kayaks, small boats, fishing boats, unmanned boats, and underwater equipment that require stronger propulsion, choosing the right thruster and accessories is very important.

The APISQUEEN U10 is a 24V brushless underwater thruster featuring a brushless motor design, with a maximum power output of 900W and a maximum thrust of approximately 10kg. With its strong output and metal construction, the U10 is suitable for various marine modifications and DIY projects.

U10 Underwater Thruster Features

900W Power Output

The U10 operates on a 24V system. A single thruster provides up to 900W power and approximately 10kg thrust.

Compared with lower-power thrusters, the U10 provides stronger propulsion and is suitable for:

  • Kayaks

  • Fishing boats

  • Small inflatable boats

  • Unmanned boats

  • Underwater robots

and other applications.

Brushless Motor Design

The U10 uses a brushless motor. Compared with traditional brushed motors, it offers:

  • Higher efficiency

  • Longer service life

  • Less maintenance

  • More stable operation during long-term use

The brushless motor provides smoother power output, making it suitable for applications that require continuous operation underwater.

Metal Housing Design

The U10 features a metal structure that improves overall strength and heat dissipation, allowing it to operate reliably in underwater environments.

When used in seawater, it is recommended to rinse the thruster with fresh water after each use to reduce the impact of salt residue on metal components.

Recommended Battery Options for U10

The U10 is a 24V system, so a 24V battery is recommended.

24V 50Ah LiFePO4 Battery

Suitable for:

  • Short-term use

  • Recreational activities

  • Small boats

Advantages:

  • Lightweight

  • Easy to carry

  • Lower cost

24V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery (Recommended)

Suitable for:

  • Fishing

  • Daily cruising

  • Longer water activities

Compared with a 50Ah battery, a 100Ah battery provides longer runtime and is one of the most common battery choices for the U10.

24V 150Ah or Larger Battery

Suitable for:

  • Long-distance cruising

  • Heavier boats

  • Users who require longer runtime

When choosing a larger battery, consider the installation space and overall weight.

The battery should also have sufficient continuous discharge capability to ensure stable operation under high loads.

U10 Battery Runtime Calculation

The runtime of the U10 mainly depends on the battery capacity and the working current of the thruster.

Calculation formula:

Runtime at continuous full throttle (hours) = Battery Capacity (Ah) ÷ Total Working Current of Thruster (A)

Example:

Using a 24V 100Ah battery with one U10 thruster:

  • Battery capacity: 100Ah

  • U10 maximum working current: 32A

Calculation:

100Ah ÷ 32A ≈ 3.1 hours

This means the theoretical runtime is approximately 3.1 hours when running continuously at maximum throttle.

For a dual U10 thruster system:

  • Two U10 thrusters maximum working current: 32A × 2 = 64A

  • Battery: 24V 100Ah

Calculation:

100Ah ÷ 64A ≈ 1.5 hours

In actual use, the thruster is usually not operated at full throttle all the time. Actual runtime will vary depending on speed, boat load, water conditions, and operating habits.

U10 ESC Selection

The U10 is a three-phase brushless motor and requires a compatible brushless ESC for control.

Single U10 Thruster Configuration

Recommended setup:

  • U10 24V underwater thruster ×1

  • 100A bidirectional ESC ×1

  • 24V battery ×1

A 100A bidirectional ESC allows forward and reverse control, making it suitable for boat modification projects that require directional control.

Recommended U10 Dual Thruster System

If you plan to install two thrusters, we recommend choosing the APISQUEEN U10 dual thruster kit.

The kit already includes matched thrusters, ESCs, and related accessories. The thrusters and ESCs have been properly matched, so users only need to connect a suitable 24V battery to start using the system. No additional ESC selection or parameter adjustment is required.

The dual thruster system includes:

  • U10 24V underwater thrusters ×2

  • ESC ×2

  • Connection accessories

System specifications:

  • Working voltage: 24V

  • Total power: 1800W

  • Total thrust: approximately 20kg

Compared with a single thruster, the dual thruster system provides:

  • More flexible steering control

  • Better boat stability

  • Improved maneuverability

Recommended applications:

  • Fishing boats

  • Kayaks

  • Small boats

  • DIY unmanned boats

U10 Application Scenarios

Kayak Upgrade

For users who want to reduce paddling fatigue and extend their range, the U10 can provide additional propulsion for kayaks.

Fishing Boat Modification

The U10 provides stable operation and is suitable for slow-speed movement and position adjustments during fishing.

Unmanned Boat Projects

With its compact size and stable power output, the U10 is also suitable as a propulsion module for unmanned boats and underwater equipment.
