ABOUT PWM
PWM full name is (Pulse-width modulation). It is also called duty cycle signal, which indicates the proportion of the high level duration to the whole signal period. 2ms for the whole period of PWM, 1.5ms stop, 1.5-2ms forward, 1.5-1ms reverse.
From the diagram, we can clearly see that when PWM is 75% (1.5ms), the motor stops rotating, when PWM is 50% (1ms), the motor rotates in reverse, and when PWM is 100% (2ms) the motor rotates in forward.Of course ESC will not only make the motor turn forward and reverse, but can adjust the speed of motor rotation by the duty cycle size of PWM. When the PWM is gradually changed from 75% to 50%, the motor will keep reversing and accelerating from stop until the reverse rotation reaches the maximum. And when PWM is gradually changed from 75% to 100%, the motor is continuously accelerated from stop to forward until the forward rotation reaches the maximum value. That is, PWM is a signal that can be continuously varied, and the effective range is from 50% to 100%.
The frequency of PWM signal is 50hz, 100hz, 200hz or 500hz, etc. The higher the control frequency, the shorter the period, the shorter the control interval, and the faster the ESC and motor response speed The faster the ESC and motor response. Conversely, the lower the control frequency, the longer the period, the longer the control interval, and the slower the ESC and motor response.

I bought 4 u8 thrusters, the sales people were great and answered all emails in a timely manner. The bearings went bad on all 4 thrusters in less then 6 months, I emailed apisqueen and did not get a response. I was able to find replacement bearings on Amazon, I cleaned and replaced the bearings and the motors are now working again. The units are not sealed as it was obvious water had gotten inside of all four of the motors.
Hi all! We bought U8 290KV thruster from this manufacturer to assemble our ROV. At the stage of the ROV test in the pool, a drop in thrust from the thruster was noticed. We checked the thruster on the stand and found that the thruster did not meet the declared characteristics. When consuming 22V and 24.5A, the thruster produced only 2.7-3.0 kgf. The original ESC and laboratory unit were used to carry out the tests. That is, after getting into the water after a couple of hours of operation, the thruster stopped producing its characteristics. We opened several thruster and saw defects in the stator casting. Most likely, water has gotten inside and an interturn short circuit occurs, therefore reducing traction and increasing electricity consumption. This is terrible quality. I strongly do not recommend buying this product.
Had not the chance to test them yet but overall quallity looks good. Seems to be a rugged design.
One think that I noticed is that the distance between the prop blades and the housing is quiet big. From what I know about turbine engines and impeller engines is that the efficiency decreases alot if there is a big slot. I assume that a tighter fit would make those thrusters even more powerfull and efficient.
